Why do women\u2019s rights to land matter?<\/h3><\/div>

Land is the foundation for shelter, livelihood, and climate resilience. Land is fundamental for survival. <\/p>\n\n

Because land is central to power and identity, control over land is fundamental to gender justice. But despite enormous recent progress to ensure women\u2019s equal legal rights to land and housing, we are still far from achieving equality in practice. <\/p>\n\n

We cannot achieve gender equality without women\u2019s equal rights to and control over the world\u2019s most elemental resources: land and property. Women\u2019s land rights are fundamental human rights. <\/p><\/div>
