Agentes de Cambio de G\u00e9nero de \u00c1frica, Asia y Am\u00e9rica han hecho o\u00edr su voz sobre temas de desertificaci\u00f3n, gesti\u00f3n sostenible de los recursos de la tierra y cambio clim\u00e1tico en la 16\u00aa Conferencia de las Partes (COP) de la Convenci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas de Lucha contra la Desertificaci\u00f3n (CNULD), que tuvo lugar en Riad, Arabia Saud\u00ed, del 2 al 13 de diciembre de 2024. Reunidos en la 4\u00aa edici\u00f3n del Caucus de G\u00e9nero, estas mujeres y hombres defendieron la tenencia de la tierra y el liderazgo femeninos y trabajaron para acelerar la participaci\u00f3n inclusiva de las mujeres en las negociaciones y su acceso al conocimiento y la tecnolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n

El Caucus de G\u00e9nero es un foro multilateral creado para reforzar la capacidad de respuesta a las cuestiones de g\u00e9nero de la pol\u00edtica y los programas de la CNULD e impulsar la aplicaci\u00f3n de la Convenci\u00f3n. Plan de acci\u00f3n de g\u00e9nero<\/a>con el que la Convenci\u00f3n pretende reforzar la participaci\u00f3n y el liderazgo de las mujeres en sus procesos de toma de decisiones. En tres sesiones, el evento puso de relieve las contribuciones \u00fanicas de las mujeres a la restauraci\u00f3n de la tierra y a la gesti\u00f3n sostenible de la tierra y los sistemas alimentarios, y mostr\u00f3 ejemplos de adaptaci\u00f3n de las mujeres en contextos tan diversos como India, Guatemala, Nigeria y Marruecos. Una de estas Agentes del Cambio es Rita Otu, una cient\u00edfica agr\u00edcola de Nigeria con experiencia en la facilitaci\u00f3n de iniciativas dirigidas por la comunidad y en la formaci\u00f3n de mujeres agricultoras sobre el cambio clim\u00e1tico y los derechos sobre la tierra. \"El ambiente estaba cargado de un sentido de urgencia y prop\u00f3sito\", dice de su primera COP. \"Fue a la vez humillante y motivador formar parte de una conversaci\u00f3n mundial tan importante, sabiendo que las decisiones que all\u00ed se tomen podr\u00edan marcar el futuro de nuestro planeta\". Para ella, participar en foros como la COP es crucial para compartir buenas pr\u00e1cticas, crear redes de apoyo para hacer avanzar la igualdad de g\u00e9nero en diversos contextos e influir en la formulaci\u00f3n de pol\u00edticas.<\/p>\n

La Sra. Otu tambi\u00e9n tuvo un papel clave durante la COP, hablando en el programa de radio que cre\u00f3 para educar a los agricultores en pr\u00e1cticas de gesti\u00f3n sostenible de la tierra y consolidaci\u00f3n de la paz, Radio FANTASEE (Alimentos y Nutrici\u00f3n en el Aire para el Empoderamiento Social y Econ\u00f3mico). Semanalmente, el proyecto transmite las experiencias de las comunidades locales con el cambio clim\u00e1tico y las adaptaciones ecol\u00f3gicamente racionales en el horario de m\u00e1xima audiencia de la tarde, proporcionando a los oyentes sistemas de informaci\u00f3n cruciales. Casi 40% de las mujeres oyentes declararon haber probado al menos una pr\u00e1ctica adaptativa aprendida en el programa.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n asisti\u00f3 a su primera COP Hannah Longole, experta en comunicaci\u00f3n de Uganda y Directora Ejecutiva de la Centro Cultural Ateker<\/a>que se dedica a mejorar los derechos sobre la tierra de las mujeres y los j\u00f3venes de las comunidades de pastores. La Sra. Longole encontr\u00f3 en la Convenci\u00f3n una plataforma pertinente para expresar sus preocupaciones cr\u00edticas y conocer a participantes de contextos similares de todo el mundo.<\/p>\n

\"En la COP 16 de la CNULD, reconocemos que los derechos de las mujeres a la tierra son esenciales para una restauraci\u00f3n eficaz\", afirma. \"Juntas, como mujeres ind\u00edgenas y pastoras de Uganda, honramos nuestras experiencias locales, establecemos conexiones y catalizamos acciones significativas hacia un futuro sostenible\".<\/p>\n

Apoyo de la GIZ<\/strong>
\nVeintiuna de las Agentes de Cambio de G\u00e9nero contaron con el apoyo del Proyecto Global de la GIZ Empoderamiento de las Mujeres para \u00c1reas Rurales Resilientes (WE4R) en nombre del Ministerio Federal Alem\u00e1n de Cooperaci\u00f3n Econ\u00f3mica y Desarrollo. WE4R, junto con la Secretar\u00eda de la CNULD, la campa\u00f1a mundial Stand for Her Land, la Coalici\u00f3n Agroecol\u00f3gica<\/a>y CARI<\/a>tiene por objeto reforzar la representaci\u00f3n de las mujeres rurales en los \u00f3rganos decisorios regionales y mundiales pertinentes en materia de gobernanza de la tierra.<\/p>\n

Un momento clave para ello fue el evento de creaci\u00f3n de redes de Agentes de Cambio de G\u00e9nero organizado por WE4R, Stand for Her Land y la UNCCD. WE4R tambi\u00e9n apoy\u00f3 una mayor participaci\u00f3n de los j\u00f3venes en la conferencia, facilitando un encuentro entre los Agentes de Cambio y los participantes en la conferencia. Programa de J\u00f3venes Negociadores de la Tierra<\/a>que capacita a j\u00f3venes profesionales para actuar como negociadores de sus pa\u00edses. A trav\u00e9s de todos estos esfuerzos, los Agentes de Cambio subrayaron el papel fundamental de la equidad de g\u00e9nero en la gobernanza de la tierra, abogando por el empoderamiento, el liderazgo y la igualdad de oportunidades de las mujeres en la acci\u00f3n mundial contra la desertificaci\u00f3n y el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n
