Des agents de changement du genre d'Afrique, d'Asie et des Am\u00e9riques ont fait entendre leur voix sur les th\u00e8mes de la d\u00e9sertification, de la gestion durable des ressources fonci\u00e8res et du changement climatique lors de la 16e Conf\u00e9rence des Parties (COP) de la Convention des Nations Unies sur la lutte contre la d\u00e9sertification (UNCCD), qui s'est tenue \u00e0 Riyad, en Arabie saoudite, du 2 au 13 d\u00e9cembre 2024. R\u00e9unis \u00e0 l'occasion de la 4e \u00e9dition du Caucus Genre, ces femmes et ces hommes ont d\u00e9fendu le r\u00e9gime foncier et le leadership des femmes et ont \u0153uvr\u00e9 pour acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la participation inclusive des femmes aux n\u00e9gociations et leur acc\u00e8s aux connaissances et aux technologies.<\/p>\n

Le Caucus sur le genre est un forum multipartite mis en place pour renforcer la prise en compte de la dimension de genre dans les politiques et les programmes de la CNULD et pour stimuler la mise en \u0153uvre de la Convention sur la diversit\u00e9 biologique. Plan d'action pour l'\u00e9galit\u00e9 entre les femmes et les hommes<\/a>L'\u00e9v\u00e9nement a mis en lumi\u00e8re la contribution unique des femmes \u00e0 la restauration des terres et \u00e0 la gestion durable des syst\u00e8mes fonciers et alimentaires. En trois sessions, l'\u00e9v\u00e9nement a mis en lumi\u00e8re les contributions uniques des femmes \u00e0 la restauration des terres et \u00e0 la gestion durable des syst\u00e8mes fonciers et alimentaires et a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 des exemples d'adaptation des femmes dans des contextes aussi divers que l'Inde, le Guatemala, le Nig\u00e9ria et le Maroc. Ces exemples sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s dans la nouvelle \u00e9tude de l'UNCCD intitul\u00e9e \"Innovative and effective women-led solutions for drought resilience and adaptation\", dont le r\u00e9sum\u00e9 \u00e0 l'intention des d\u00e9cideurs peut \u00eatre consult\u00e9 dans son int\u00e9gralit\u00e9. ici<\/a>.<\/p>\n

L'un de ces agents de changement est Rita Otu, une agronome nig\u00e9riane exp\u00e9riment\u00e9e dans la facilitation d'initiatives communautaires et de formations pour les agricultrices sur le changement climatique et les droits fonciers. \"L'atmosph\u00e8re \u00e9tait charg\u00e9e d'un sentiment d'urgence et d'objectif\", dit-elle de sa premi\u00e8re COP. \"C'\u00e9tait \u00e0 la fois humiliant et motivant de participer \u00e0 une conversation mondiale aussi importante, sachant que les d\u00e9cisions prises \u00e0 cette occasion pourraient fa\u00e7onner l'avenir de notre plan\u00e8te\". Pour elle, la participation \u00e0 des forums comme la COP est essentielle pour partager les meilleures pratiques, construire des r\u00e9seaux de soutien pour faire progresser l'\u00e9galit\u00e9 entre les femmes et les hommes dans diff\u00e9rents contextes et influencer l'\u00e9laboration des politiques.<\/p>\n

Mme Otu a \u00e9galement jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9 pendant la COP, en parlant de l'\u00e9mission de radio qu'elle a cr\u00e9\u00e9e pour \u00e9duquer les agriculteurs aux pratiques de gestion durable des terres et \u00e0 la consolidation de la paix, Radio FANTASEE (Food and Nutrition on the Air for Social and Economic Empowerment - Alimentation et nutrition sur les ondes pour l'autonomisation sociale et \u00e9conomique). Chaque semaine, le projet diffuse les exp\u00e9riences des communaut\u00e9s locales en mati\u00e8re de changement climatique et d'adaptations \u00e9cologiques aux heures de grande \u00e9coute, fournissant ainsi aux auditeurs des syst\u00e8mes d'information cruciaux. Pr\u00e8s de 40% des auditrices ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 avoir essay\u00e9 au moins une pratique d'adaptation apprise lors de l'\u00e9mission.<\/p>\n

Hannah Longole, experte en communication originaire d'Ouganda et directrice ex\u00e9cutive de l'association Centre culturel Ateker<\/a>qui se consacre \u00e0 l'am\u00e9lioration des droits fonciers des femmes et des jeunes dans les communaut\u00e9s pastorales. Mme Longole a trouv\u00e9 dans la Convention une plateforme pertinente pour exprimer des pr\u00e9occupations critiques et rencontrer des participants issus de contextes similaires \u00e0 travers le monde.<\/p>\n

\"A la COP 16 de l'UNCCD, nous reconnaissons que les droits fonciers des femmes sont essentiels pour une restauration efficace\", d\u00e9clare-t-elle. \"Ensemble, en tant que femmes autochtones et pastorales en Ouganda, nous honorons nos exp\u00e9riences locales, \u00e9tablissons des liens et catalysons des actions significatives vers un avenir durable\".<\/p>\n

Le soutien de la GIZ<\/strong>
\nVingt-et-un de ces agents de changement ont \u00e9t\u00e9 soutenus par le projet mondial de la GIZ, Women's Empowerment for Resilient Rural Areas (WE4R), au nom du minist\u00e8re f\u00e9d\u00e9ral allemand de la coop\u00e9ration \u00e9conomique et du d\u00e9veloppement. WE4R, en collaboration avec le secr\u00e9tariat de l'UNCCD, la campagne mondiale Stand for Her Land, les Coalition pour l'agro\u00e9cologie<\/a>et CARI<\/a>L'objectif est de renforcer la repr\u00e9sentation des femmes rurales dans les organes d\u00e9cisionnels r\u00e9gionaux et mondiaux comp\u00e9tents en mati\u00e8re de gouvernance fonci\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

L'\u00e9v\u00e9nement de mise en r\u00e9seau des agents de changement en mati\u00e8re de genre, organis\u00e9 par WE4R, Stand for Her Land et l'UNCCD, a constitu\u00e9 un moment cl\u00e9 \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard. WE4R a \u00e9galement soutenu une plus grande implication des jeunes dans la conf\u00e9rence, en facilitant une rencontre entre les agents de changement et les participants de l'atelier sur le genre. Programme des jeunes n\u00e9gociateurs de la terre<\/a>qui permet aux jeunes professionnels d'agir en tant que n\u00e9gociateurs pour leur pays. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 tous ces efforts, les agents de changement ont soulign\u00e9 le r\u00f4le essentiel de l'\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes dans la gouvernance fonci\u00e8re, en plaidant pour l'autonomisation des femmes, leur leadership et l'\u00e9galit\u00e9 des chances dans l'action mondiale contre la d\u00e9sertification et le changement climatique.<\/p>\n
